i killed my prince this morning.

we dissected frogs today.

i had mixed feelings about it. a few months ago, i was excited to do it. yesterday, after thinking about it again (and after watching a video demonstrating the right way to cut open a frog), i felt.. disgusted.

i mean, the woman in the video was scraping the frog's muscles like mad. and the frog looked all slimy and all at the time.. at least, for me.

well this morning when we actually did the dissection, all the disgust i had been feeling the day before was replaced by pity. the frog's eyes seemed real round and all pleading-like (or maybe i was just hallucinating then, as i perhaps had breathed in too much ether and became woozy), and i felt so sorry for the poor thing, which was pinned down, helpless.

who are we to take away a frog's life? we are but humans, which in my opinion are no better than frogs or any other animal.

it's just unfair. while animals go through dissection and drug-testing which may result in mutations or the death of these animals, it is "unethical" to do those on living humans. it would make more sense to me if they do these dissections and experiments on already-dead animals.

then again, scientists wouldn't be able to know whether a certain medication could cure a disease or not, could they? but what i don't get is, why not let people be the guinea pigs? i mean, these cures are for humans anyway, and i'm almost sure that no other animal has the same biological anatomy as that of a person. the world's getting overpopulated by humans, anyway. so i'm thinking it would be fine if a few of us died. i'm aware that it's written somewhere that no man is supposed to take away the life of another, but why doesn't the rule apply for animals too? i mean, sure, animals do kill other animals for food. but that's how they are. that's necessary for their survival. though, i can't say the same for humans using animals for their experiments and all. it's just frustrating how people think they're superior to any other thing in this world.

and then, when a certain species becomes extinct, people would say they tried everything to make the species grow in number. but then why start killing and damaging animals in the first place?

how i wish there were dissectable and experimentable synthetic animals.

anyway, the dissection was successful. i did not shout or scream, i only cried inside.

whew! you finally made this post. feels good to finally get this off your chest, huh?

anyway, ganun talaga. but there are a lot of people who are against conducting experiments on animals. and there are human guinea pigs like those who take experimental drugs to see if they're effective or not.

the reason or maybe one of the reasons why they use animals is that no one is willing to volunteer for something that can be potentially fatal unless they are really, really desperate. so, in turn, there's is no scientific progress. ergo, they have to find an animal that has the same or almost the same anatomy as a human's. for example, rats.

i aint taking sides here just so you know. anyway, im looking forward to your future posts and always will. i'll see you around...

*sigh* suicidal people should go ahead and volunteer themselves to these stuff.. it's just useless to throw themselves off a building. the least they can do is be useful to society. hehe

well, the reason they commit suicide is that they think they dont serve any use/purpose/whatever-you-call-it on this world anymore. and they want instant death. not something slow and maybe even painful cuz, i dunno, maybe someone or something might come along and interfere and maybe even change their minds. so they prefer one-hit KOs. at least that's how i would want it if i were to commit suicide WHICH IM NOT. lol. but that's a brilliant idea. i totally agree with you. suicidal people should be experimented on. hahaha.

Survival of the fittest, deary. It's a part of life.
I had a dream about that. A grotesque animal-like creature treating human beings like animals. Let's hope there won't be a more intelligent being that would take over the planet and dissect us for their educational purposes.

BTW, I didn't kill a frog. Our frog died even before we had the chance to dissect it. I'm not a murderer. Hah.
